Karl Kesel Artist

Karl Kesel

Karl Kesel loves his job far more than he has any right to. Over the past 30+ years he has written, inked, and/or penciled most of the major comics publishers’ major characters — including Superman, Superboy, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, and Captain America — although he has an inexplicable fondness for minor, obscure characters no one else remembers.

Karl ‘s long career has taken him from DC to Marvel, and Dark Horse to Image.  His first work for appeared in New Talent Showcase #4 for DC Comics, which later led to him providing inks over the pencils of George Pérez on History of the DC Universe and John Byrne on Legends and Superman vol. 2.  Karl co-wrote a Hawk and Dove miniseries in 1988 which was drawn by Rob Liefeld.  In 2000, Karl and artist Terry Dodson launched the first Harley Quinn ongoing series.

Karl’s work at Marvel Comics includes inking a Vision story in Avengers Spotlight #23 and writing Daredevil along with the Incredible Hulk and Human Torch: From the Marvel Vault #1.  His work for Dark Horse Comics includes Dark Horse Presents and Aliens: Space Marines.

Karl later co-created Section Zero as part of the Image Comics imprint Gorilla Comics.
